Clink! Clink! Another Drink!

In 1942 Mel Blanc recorded his first record – Clink! Clink! Another Drink! with Spike Jones and His City Slickers….in fact, it was also Spike’s first recording session. Mel, of course, was not a member of the City Slickers and it was the only record that Mel would make with them.

In what one might call a precursor to today’s music videos, they also filmed a Soundie of the song to be played on a Panoram, a coin-operated film jukebox or machine music, in nightclubs, bars, restaurants, factory lounges, and amusement centers. More info here.

In this video, Mel joins lead singer Del Porter in this rendition of the song….and watch for Spike behind the bar.
